THE CHALLENGE

A prominent retailer in the UK, faced the challenge of updating its corporate network to ensure optimal connectivity and reliability for its daily operations. The existing equipment was approaching its end-of-life, and the customer required a seamless transition across the UK and Ireland, comprising over 2,800 sites ranging from small local stores to large warehouses, to support communication, stock, and trading systems.

NSC’S SOLUTION

To tackle this challenge, NSC partnered with BT to deliver a comprehensive network solution for the customer. The solution included storage, staging, delivery, and installation of new equipment over a two-year timeline. NSC’s team of experts worked closely with the customer and BT to ensure a smooth transition to the new solution, conducting full site surveys to address potential challenges beforehand.

NSC’s state-of-the-art storage and staging centre in Feltham, UK was utilized to store and test the networking equipment from Meraki. This ensured that the equipment was configured and ready for installation when required. The installation process was scheduled out of hours, with 40 sites targeted each week to minimise disruption to the customer’s operations.

RESULTS

As the two-year project nears its completion, NSC has exceeded expectations, delivering improved reliability, functionality, and connectivity to the customer’s corporate network. The project has achieved a minimal failure rate and has had no impact on the customer’s daily operations.

The new networking solution provides enhanced reliability, functionality, and connectivity, ensuring that the end-of-life criteria are met while future-proofing the network for years to come.
