THE CHALLENGE

In response to declining business in the maintenance services sector, this IT services company made the strategic decision to outsource its maintenance service activities in Europe with the goal of improving service quality and reducing costs and people liability.

This presented a significant challenge for the company, as they needed to find a reliable partner to take over their people, tools, and vendor accreditations and certifications in a smooth transition that would not disrupt operations.

NSC’S SOLUTION

The solution came in the form of NSC, as our specialism in maintenance services and a strong track record in the industry, provided perfect synergy. In a project that lasted 10 months, we successfully took over the maintenance services in six countries (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Poland) that included Field Service, Service Desk, International Expertise Centre, Process & Tooling, and Project Management.

To ensure a successful transition, NSC worked closely with the local Workers’ Councils and held face-to-face meetings to demonstrate the benefits of the takeover. The contractual arrangements between the company and NSC were set to last for a minimum of five years, providing stability for both companies.

BENEFITS

The results of the takeover were highly positive for both the customer and NSC.

  • Atos locked in a cost reduction of 15% across this area of business and received quicker and more flexible commercial and operational support from NSC.
  • The employees transferred to NSC joined a company where maintenance services were at the core, providing opportunities for growth, training and certifications, and the possibility of contract employment commitment.
  • NSC integrated the transferred employees into a new business unit, and the services of these employees were then available across all of our business units.

The integration of the International Expertise Center (IEC) was particularly successful, benefiting all business units with international clients. This led to NSC winning the Dell project in France, where we now provide around 100K interventions per year hitting high quality standards in over 98% of cases.

Overall, this maintenance services takeover by NSC has been a highly successful project benefiting both companies. The company reduced their costs, headcount liability, and improved service quality, while at NSC we expanded our business and offered our clients greater international scale and commercial benefit.
