Overview

A leading multi-site global retailer partnered with a global systems integrator (GSI) to transform its in-store wireless network infrastructure across multiple European countries.
The objective was to modernise connectivity, enhance
in-store digital capabilities, and enable a consistent,
high-performance wireless experience across thousands
of locations.

NSC Global was selected as the delivery partner to execute the physical rollout, providing end-to-end logistics, deployment, and support services across a highly distributed estate (7 countries).

Requirement

The retailer required a seamless upgrade of its wireless infrastructure across thousands of stores, distribution centres, and operational sites spanning multiple countries. This transformation needed to be delivered without disruption to daily operations, ensuring no impact
on store performance or customer experience.

The scale and complexity of the environment presented several key challenges. The estate included a wide variety of site types, from large-format stores and warehouses to smaller retail locations, each with unique requirements. The programme
also required full lifecycle management of hardware, from
initial delivery and staging through to deployment and
ongoing support.

Additionally, the rollout had to be executed at pace, with a high volume of concurrent site activities, while maintaining consistency and quality across all locations.

Solution

NSC Global delivered a fully integrated, end-to-end service model to support the programme, acting as the execution arm for all on-the-ground operations.

This included centralised spare parts warehousing and logistics, where all networking equipment was received, stored, and prepared for deployment. Devices were
staged and pre-configured to ensure rapid, standardised installation at each site.

A coordinated field services capability was deployed across seven countries, providing skilled engineers to carry out on-site installations of wireless access points, switches, and supporting infrastructure. This was supported by a structured programme management approach, with multiple delivery workstreams covering site surveys, WAN, LAN, and wireless deployment, all governed through a central programme office.

In total, NSC Global conducted approximately 11,000 site visits, including surveys, installations, and follow-on activities, ensuring each location was prepared and deployed to a consistent standard.

Beyond deployment, NSC also provided ongoing support services, including break-fix and parts replacement, ensuring continued operational performance across the estate.

Outcome

The programme successfully delivered a next-generation wireless network across the retailer’s European footprint, enabling enhanced in-store connectivity and supporting modern retail applications.

The new infrastructure introduced advanced wireless capabilities, including intelligent optimisation of network performance to deliver reliable, high-quality connectivity for voice, video, and data across all locations.

From a delivery perspective, NSC Global achieved a 97%+ installation success rate, demonstrating consistent execution at scale. The programme was completed across thousands of sites within a compressed timeframe, with high levels of quality and standardisation throughout.

The engagement also led to the establishment of ongoing services, with NSC continuing to support the customer environment through business-as-usual activities and additional rollout programmes, further strengthening the long-term partnership.

Looking Ahead – Business Impact

By partnering with NSC Global, the GSI was able to execute a complex, multi-country infrastructure transformation with confidence. The programme delivered a scalable, future-ready network foundation, improving operational efficiency and enabling enhanced digital experiences in-store.

NSC’s ability to combine global logistics, local engineering expertise, and structured programme management ensured consistent outcomes across every site, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner for large-scale, last-mile technology deployments.

The success of this programme established NSC Global as a trusted delivery partner within the retail sector, leading to further engagements across the customer’s estate. Building on the momentum of the initial rollout, NSC has since been selected to support additional projects, including the deployment of CCTV infrastructure across multiple locations, as well as ongoing business-as-usual (BAU) services. These continued engagements demonstrate the confidence placed in NSC’s ability to deliver consistently at scale, while providing the flexibility and responsiveness required to support evolving operational needs across a complex, multi-site environment.

Why NSC Global

This project highlights NSC Global’s capability to deliver large-scale, multi-country technology rollouts with precision and consistency. By integrating logistics, staging, deployment, and support into a single operating model, NSC enables enterprises and GSIs to accelerate transformation while reducing complexity with its
last-mile capabilities.
